Lungs is the part of respiratory system in which purification of blood & gas takes place.
16. HOW DOES RESPIRATORY SYSTEM WORK ?
When we breath by nose the air goes to trachea than goes to bronchitis which is in lungs then goes to alveoli where purification of air takes place.
17. WHAT IS ALVEOLI ?
It is the smallest uni of respiratory system. It is air sacs.
18. WHAT IS NERVOUS SYSTEM ?
Nervous system is the system which control and coordinates the whole body.
Main part of nervous system are- BRAIN, SPINAL CORD, NERVE, NEURONS.
19. WHAT IS NEURONE ?
Smallest unit of nervous system is called NEURON.
STRUCTURE OF NEURON
20. WHAT IS BLOOD ?
Blood is the liquid fluid that present in the body. blood contains cells and plasma.
Blood carry oxygen and nutrients to the cell of the body and also carry away carbon – dioxide (co2) and other waste products from the body cells.
22. WHAT ARE THE BLOOD CELLS ?
There are 3 type of blood cell- R.B.C. (RED BLOOD CELLS), W.B.C. (WHITE BLOOD CELLS) , PLATELET.
23. WHAT IS URINARY SYSTEM ?
- It consist of KIDNEY ,URETERS ,URINARY BLADDER ,URETHRA
- KIDNEY-2 kidney present in body, one on each side of vertebral column. outside the peritoneal cavity. adult kidney is 10 -13 cms in length, 6 cms in breadth, 2.5 -4 cms in thickness. it is bean shaped. right kidney is slightly smaller than left one. colour of kidney is deep colour. each kidney has an adrenal gland on its apex. NEPHRON is smallest unit of kidney .
- URETERS-are two tubes, one going from each kidney to bladder it is 35 – 40 cms long in a adult person.
- URINARY BLADDER – In this urine stores, it is pear shaped organ, made up of involuntary muscles. capacity of urinary bladder is 300- 400 ml. bladder opens into urethra through a sphincter ( one way , valve like, ring shape muscular structure).
- URETHRA – It is a tube, made up of mainly involuntary muscles, passing from the neck of bladder to external opening. in females, the urethra is 2.5 – 3.5 cms long. in males it is 16 – 24 cms.
24. WHAT IS KIDNEY ?
2 kidney present in body, one on each side of vertebral column. outside the peritoneal cavity. adult kidney is 10 -13 cms in length, 6 cms in breadth, 2.5 -4 cms in thickness. it is bean shaped. right kidney is slightly smaller than left one. colour of kidney is deep colour. each kidney has an adrenal gland on its apex. NEPHRON is smallest unit of kidney .
25. WHAT IS NEFRON ?
Smallest unit of kidney is called NEFRON.
26. WHAT IS THE SKELETON SYSTEM ?
Skeleton system is the frame of bones providing support to the body and protection to organs, it also acts as levers in body movements.
TYPE OF BONES- LONG BONES , SHORT BONES, FLAT BONES, SESAMOID BONES, IRREGULAR BONES
TYPE OF JOINT-
- FIBROUS JOINTS ( non moving joints , e.g.- joints in flat skull bones.)
- CARTILAGINOUS JOINTS (slightly moving joints , e.g.- intra vertebral joint with intervertebral disc between two vertebrae. )
- SYNOVIAL JOINTS ( highly or freely moving joints ) these are of six type gliding joints, ball & socket joints, hinge joints, condyloid joints, pivot joints, saddle joints
27. WHAT IS SKULL?
Skull is bony case of the head , made up of many flat bones , arranged in 2 part- CRANIUM AND FACIAL SKELETON.
28. WHAT IS THORACIC CAGE ?
The cage like structure of the THORAX has both bones and cartilages. It is cone shaped frame , broader at the base. It is made up of 12 THORACIC VERTEBRAE at the back, the sternum (CENTRAL BONE) in the front and 12 pairs of RIBS on the sides. The STERNUM or the BREAST-BONE is flat and narrow.
29. WHAT IS VERTEBRAL COLUMN ?
It is a flexible formation of vertebrae. Between two vertebrae are placed pads of FIBROUS (THREADLIKE) CARTILAGE known as INTERVERTEBRAL DISCS. 33 VERTEBRAE, 24 of which are separate from each other, while the remaining 9 are fused to form 2 bones, the SACRUM and COCCYX.
30. PICTURES OF BONES OF HAND AND FOOT, FEMUR BONE, TIBIA AND FIBULA BONE ?
31. WHAT IS REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM ?
The organs of reproduction are the genital tract connected to the urinary tract. In males, the two tracts are closely associated. In females though they are closely placed, they are not connected.
FEMALE ORGANS OF REPRODUCTION- EXTERNAL ORGANS, INTERNAL ORGANS
MALE ORGANS OF REPRODUCTION- Testes are the male organs of reproduction where spermatozoa (male sperms) are formed and the male sex hormone, testosterone is produced. there are two testes, one on either side, inside the scrotal sac.
32. WHAT IS MUSCULAR SYSTEM ?
The muscles of the skeleton are elementary tissues. they are attached to bones, cartilages, ligaments and to the skin. Study of muscles is called MYOLOGY.
TENDONS Bind muscles to bones.
FASCIA is a combination of FIBROUS AND AREOLAR TISSUE. They wrap and bind the soft structure.
PALMAR FASCIA, likes that over the palm of the hand, binds deep structures beneath. PLANTER FASCIA bind the heavy duty structures such as those in the sole of foot.
RETINACULA are thick portions of deep fascia like those over the wrist and ankle.
33. WHAT IS THE LYMPHATIC SYSTEM ?
Lymphatic system is closely associated with the circulatory system and hence studied along with it. The blood moves from the heart through arteries and returns to it through veins. some part of the fluid which leaves the circulation from the blood vessels is collected and returned to the heart through the lymphatic system. lymph is very much like plasma but it has less proteins. the lymph glands add lymphocytes to it. FUNCTION OF LYMPHATIC SYSTEM:-
- To collect and return to circulation the fluid escaping from blood vessels to the tissues.
- To carry lymphocytes from the lymphatic glands into circulation.
- To take emulsified fats from the intestines to circulation.
- To filter and destroy the invading micro organisms to prevent infection from spreading to other parts of the body.
- To produce antibodies to protect the body against infections.
34. WHAT IS ENDOCRINE SYSTEM ?
Endocrine system consist of endocrine glands, also called ductless glands, because the secretions they produce are not out by any duct( tube), but they go into the blood stream directly.
SOME MAJOR ENDOCRINE GLANDS IN THE HUMAN BODY ARE
- PITUITARY- It is situated at the base of skull. it has three lobes- anterior, posterior, intermediate.
- THYROID AND PARATHYROID- it has two lobes, one on either side of the trachea near pharynx. the major hormone secreted by thyroid is called thyroxine. PARATHYROID GLAND- secreted parathormone (PTH) regulates calcium metabolism in body calcium metabolism in body.
- ADRENAL OR SUPRARENAL-this is situated one each on the upper pole of kidney.
4. THYMUS- it is situated in the thorax in the region where the trachea bifurcates.
5. PANCREAS- it is not an endocrine gland but it does perform an endocrine function. it secretes insulin .
